Morris
Township is a residential community and one of the most
affluent areas in Morris County. It is an areas with long
roots in the past. During the winters of 1777, George
Washington's Continental Army camped in the dep snows of
Jockey Hollow, now part of the National Parks system.
Morris Township, once a part of Morristown, now encircles
its neighbor.
Today, the Township offers residents a pleasing mix of
home sites which range from the new sub-divisions to
spacious older homes on tree lined streets to picturesque
dwellings built in colonial times.
Today there is a pleasing mix of homes including some built
in colonial times, large older homes from the early 1900's, new and newer homes,
and condominiums.
The Morris School District ( K-12 ) provides public
education and there are also a number of private schools
in the Township.
There are two Township swimming and tennis facilities -
Streeter Pool and Tennis in the western section of the
Township and the Ginty complex in the eastern section.
Other services and facilities include: The Morris Museum,
Fosterfields Living Historical Farm, Loantaka Brook
Reservation, Seaton Hackney Stables, Patriots' Path, The
Mennen Sports Arena, Lewis Morris Park, Morristown
National Historic Park at Jockey Hollow, and the Morris
County Public Library.
Morris Township is also the home of the famous
"Seeing Eye," a facility for the training of
guide dogs to lead blind persons. There are two private
Country Clubs in the Township.
Transportation
The township is in an excellent location with easy access
to major highways, such as State Routes 10 and 24, U.S.
Routes 46 and 202; and Interstates 78, 80, 280, and 287.
The areas has three train stations - Morris Plains,
Morristown and Convent Station.
Bus service is excellent between Morristown and Netcong. Rail transportation to New York City, Newark and intermediate stops is the area’s best via NJ Transit. Airport and limousine service is available from Morristown Airport.
Shopping
A world of shopping is within easy reach. Downtown
Morristown presents dozens of specialty shops, fine restaurants,
excellent department stores and
specialty shops
catering virtually to every taste. Nearby Morris County Mall adds additional chain and discount stores.
Area shoppers also have the convenience of being only
minutes away from both the Livingston Mall and the Mall at
Short Hills.
